Nottingham Area Guide: Wollaton

Wollaton is one of Nottingham’s premier residential areas. The suburb attracts many families thanks to its friendly community and excellent schools.
Shops: The largest supermarket in Wollaton is Waitrose, located on the A609. There are plenty of smaller local convenience stores scattered around the area such as Co-op and Sainsbury's local. Wollaton also benefits from a high street bank, chemist, dry cleaners, florist, hair and beauty salons and a post office. Many of these are local, independent family run businesses.
Eating Out: There are plenty of excellent restaurants in the area of all cuisines. Some of Comfort’s favourites include Mr Man’s, The Cod’s Scallops, Suda and The Wollaton Pub and Kitchen. You can also pop in to one of the excellent cafes within Wollaton Park or pick up a takeaway from Bramcote Lane Highstreet.
Schools: Wollaton is home to several of Nottingham’s most highly regarded schools which attract many families to the area including Middleton Primary, Fernwood Juniors and Secondary and Bluecoat Academy.

Parks and Recreation: The jewel in the crown is Wollaton Hall and Park. With its museum, deer park, lake, scenic walks, playground and golf club it is the perfect place to relax and spend time as a family. There are plenty of smaller parks in the area including Martin’s Pond and Harrison’s Plantation Nature Reserve. The area also benefits from having several gyms and sports clubs including David Lloyd Gym.
Community Events: Wollaton Park is often host to fantastic events such as outdoor cinema, theatre and concerts. It is also host to seasonal events and trails. Find out more here.
Transport Links: Wollaton has excellent access to the A52 ring road and out to the M1 North and South. Hop on bus Two which will take you straight up Wollaton road in to the city centre in around 20 minutes.

Fun Fact: You probably already know that Nottingham is the home of Robin Hood, but did you know it is also the home of Batman? The Gothic Wollaton Hall was used as the outside of Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight Rises and attracts over 300,000 visitors each year!
